Rev. Deborah Steen Ross has been given many spiritual names, been many sacred
places, and been initiated and blessed many times, but her main purpose,
manifestation and core work for this life time is one of love, compassion and
expansion, and stewardship of Gaia.
As a Healer, Interfaith Minister and one who works with higher levels of energy
and spirit, she is always seeking to expand her heart and the energy container
that is her essence. Her greatest gift is listening and holding healing space, whether it be for
clients, students, or Gaia herself.
Deborah was born in NYC and raised in Mamaroneck, NY. She attended Ithaca College and graduated in 1971 with a BFA in Theater - Acting
and Directing.
Her work as an actress and singer in the 1970’s took her from off-Broadway to regional theater, summer stock and dinner
theater, and back to NYC.
She left the stage in 1980 to become a holistic healer, studying and becoming
certified in Shiatsu, Applied Kinesiology, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Nutrition.
She received her first Reiki Teacher Mastership in 1985 from Dr. Barbara Ray in
The Radiance Technique™ style of Reiki, and since then has received additional Master Teacher trainings
from William Rand - The International Center for Reiki Training, in The
Usui/Tibetian System and Karuna Reiki in 2006. In 2008, she received from Master Hyakuten Inamoto, ‘Komyo Reiki Shinpiden,’ and is accredited as Shihan/Teacher with The Komyo Reiki Kai (Kyoto Center) in
Japan. She has a certificate in Spiritual Counseling from The New Seminary.
Deborah became an Interfaith Minister with The New Seminary in 1998, and a
member of the staff in 2000. She became the Associate Director in 2002. She is the Founder and Director of
The International Seminary for Interfaith Studies (ISIS) in New York City.
